APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR FY2007

JAPAN CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM

FOR AFRICAN AGRICULTURAL RESEARCHERS

NOTICE:


  Applicants must submit their application forms to ICCAE by July 1, 2007. In the section 4-D of the application guidelines, there is a description "submission of CVs may be postponed until the Selection Committee meeting scheduled to be held at the middle of July 2007". However, CVs must arrive to the secretariat of Nagoya University by July 11.

1. Purpose of the program

The purpose of this program is

a) to strengthen collaboration between Japan and agricultural research organizations whose mission is African development, and

b) to deliver Japanese know-how of agricultural research methods and technologies to Africa.

Training programs for promising young African researchers will be offered in agricultural research organizations, preferably in Africa. All training will be supplied by Japanese researcher(s) currently working for African development and/or technology transfer to Africa.

Two Training methods will be offered, either on-the-job training or group-program training lasting 2 to 6 months.

Host organizations will be CGIAR Centers, or other international agricultural research institutions, universities, National Agriculture Research Institutes located outside Japan.

The total FY07 budget for this program is $131,482 (exchange rate USD 1.00=\120)

2. Timing

The training program(s) will last between 2 to 6 months, commencing in August 2007 and ending by February 2008.

3. Time schedule of program

July 1, 2007: Deadline for submission of applications to ICCAE
July 31, 2007: ICCAE notifies applicants on selection results, and concludes implementation agreements with host institutions
August 2007 - : Researchers begin training programs
February 25, 2008: Deadline for submission of completion reports to ICCAE

4. Application procedure

Applicants must submit their application forms via e-mail to ICCAE by July 1, 2007
(E-mail address for submission: iccae4africa@agr.nagoya-u.ac.jp).

In case e-mail is not available, the application form(s) together with electronic medium such as floppy disk or CD-ROM may be mailed to ICCAE. Please refer Application Guidelines.
